School Nurse

I want to welcome you to the school nurse's section of the Wesleyan Christian Academy Web site.

The school nurse's role is to promote a healthy and safe environment for children, students, and staff at Wesleyan Education Center.  As the American Nurses Association states: "Children should be healthy to learn and learn to be healthy."

You will find this section helpful in locating a variety of health forms, Frequently Asked Questions and other health and wellness information.

I look forward to working with you and your children this year.

Mary Lou Lawton, RN, BSN, MA School Nurse

Where can I find the health forms?

You can find all the health and medication forms by clicking here or by clicking on the "Health Forms" link at the left.

How can you be reached?

The school nurse's office is located in the first room on the right as you enter the elementary hall. It is beside the Elementary Hall of Fame. I am available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily when the academy is in session.

As the school nurse, I realize it is important that I be accessible to all who may need to see me for routine concerns or emergencies. Teachers and staff have my office number and cell phone numbers so that I may be reached at all times. Students may request to see me by asking their teacher.

Parents may contact me by phone at 336-884-3333, ext. 255, or by email at mlawton@wesed.org. If you need immediate contact, please call the school office at 336-884-3333, ext. 214, 215, or 216, and ask the secretaries to page me.

School health policy dictates that if your child has been ill with an elevated temperature, he/she may not return to school until he/she has been without fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. (i.e., Advil, Tylenol, Motrin)

My child has a newly diagnosed health issue. Whom should I inform?

Please inform your child's teacher and the school nurse. It is important for your child's health data to be current for your child's safety and health.
