ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIPS

Wesleyan Christian Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).  The school holds membership in the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals, North Carolina Association of Independent Schools and North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association. All teachers are licensed by the state of North Carolina and ACSI.

FACULTY QUALIFICATIONS

• 100% of our faculty holds dual certifications from the State of North Carolina and the Association of Christian Schools International.
• 100% of our faculty and staff are required to be believers in Jesus Christ.
• 14 years is the average teacher tenure at Wesleyan Christian Academy.
• More than 50% of faculty members have earned advanced degrees.
• More than 67% of teachers' assistants have earned a bachelor's degree.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

• K-8 achievement test scores rank significantly higher than state and national averages.
• Approximately 50% of Wesleyan students qualify for the DUKE TIP program by scoring above the 95% on standardized testing.
• 29 individual honors courses and 11 Advanced Placement (AP) classes are offered on-site at the high school level with the opportunity to enroll in additional AP courses online.  
• 85% of our high school students were enrolled in at least one honors or AP course during the 2013-14 school year. 
• The average Wesleyan Senior earns between 20-30 college credit hours prior to high school graduation.
• The average Wesleyan Senior earns approximately $70,000.00 in collegiate scholarships. 
• Wesleyan Seniors are admitted into 90% of the colleges they apply to.

CLASS OF 2014 STUDENT PERFORMANCE

• Over the past five years, our graduating classes have earned $3.5 million to $4.5 million in merit-based collegescholarships.  This amount does not include financial aid that may be awarded to individual students.
• 91% of our 2014 seniors were accepted to the college of their choice.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

• WCA encourages our students to take ownership of their faith and to be able to successfully defend the tenants of the Gospel
• Students have been a part of mission trips all across the world to places such as, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Russia, Europe, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Haiti
• Students are involved in local service projects with organizations such as, Special Olympics, Special Populations, the Pregnancy Care Center and The High Point Community Against Violence
• Our goal is to enhance in the students the development of a Christian worldview and to assist in their spiritual formation

TECHNOLOGY

• All Elementary classrooms (K1-4) include a teacher’s computer, ceiling-mount projector, interactive white board, and an auditory phonic voice projection system.
• The large majority of Middle School (5-8) and High School (9-12) classrooms include a teacher’s computer, either a ceiling-mount projector and/or an interactive white board, and an auditory phonic voice projection system.
• The Elementary computer lab (K1-4) offers 30 computers with a wide array of academic and creative software that supplements the students’ classroom learning in the areas of reading, math, spelling, and science. 
• Students in grades 3-8 are taught keyboarding skills through an interactive software program.
• The Middle School (5-8) and High School (9-12) computer lab is equipped with 30 Apple Macintosh computers. Middle School students develop foundational skills in MS Office and continue to hone their keyboarding skills.  In addition, Middle School elective courses are offered in Adobe Photoshop Elements, Premeier Photoshop, SketchUp, and basic programming.
• Our Enrichment Center is home to our third computer lab and serves our EC students.  Additional computer banks can be found in our Media Center and in several of the High School classrooms.
• Wesleyan maintains different internet tools available to parents and students that include access to reference materials through our Media Center, student grades, homework assignments, attendance records, faculty communication, and cafeteria menus.
• Our school calendar, athletic calendar, and fine arts calendar are available to parents for viewing and/or download.

ATHLETICS

• Wesleyan offers 37 different boys’ and girls’ teams across 19 different sports at the Middle School, junior varsity, and varsity levels.
• 24 team state championships
• 21 team state finalist titles
• 13 individual state championship titles
• 19 individual state finalist titles
• Over the years, 91 Wesleyan alumni have received athletic scholarships and/or played sports on the collegiate level.
• Three Wesleyan alumni are currently playing professional sports.

FINE ARTS

• Wesleyan offers a comprehensive program in instrumental and vocal music, drama, dance, and the visual arts.
• Students have performance opportunities in contemporary worship that include Praise Band Class and chapel performances.
• More than 350 Wesleyan students participate in Middle School and High School Fine Arts each week.
• Our Middle School and High School band and choral groups have won or placed in local, district, and national competitions.
• Elementary, Middle, and High School students have won state and national visual arts contests.
• Our Middle and High School performance groups won or placed in the Harris Teeter Jingle contest for three consecutive years.
• Recent high school musical productions include: Singing in the Rain, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Music Man Jr.

THE PRIVATE TEACHING STUDIOS AT WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 

• Studio opened in 2007 to provide private instruction in instrumental and vocal music
• Wesleyan Dance provides private, college preparatory lessons for students ages PK through 12th grade
• Studio employs 22 part-time professional teachers and provides 275+ private lessons per week (school and community)

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

For education to be meaningful, it must be based upon truth. Wesleyan Christian Academy believes that all truth is God’s Truth, and His Truth is revealed through the Bible, which is infallible and is the standard for living a successful life. Only by recognizing God as the Creator, Designer, and Organizer of the universe can a proper understanding and mastery of facts and knowledge be possible.

Wesleyan Christian Academy believes that Christian education is a process in which teaching and learning are accomplished through developmentally appropriate activities by Christian teachers who encourage a high standard of academic excellence. We believe God’s Word is the highest authority and strive to bring all knowledge into a living relationship with His Truth.

Wesleyan Christian Academy functions in a complementary role with the Christian home to provide, within a traditional, educational setting, opportunities that integrate and nurture each student’s spiritual, academic, social, physical, and emotional development.

Wesleyan Christian Academy desires to produce individuals who will be productive and contributing members both in society and within the body of Christ, emanating a Christian worldview.
